Diane Abbott’s Expenses Revealed

Diane Abbott the MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington since 11 Jun 1987 to the present day has had some bazaar expenses claims.

From 1 Apr 2018 – 31 Mar 2019 the total claimed by Ms Abbott is £27,733.99* the number although may seem rather high pales in comparison to previous years with Abbott from 1 Apr 2017 – 31 Mar 2018 claiming £189,493.94*, In fact this year financial year is the first that the MP has not claimed over £100,000 since 2010. The reason for this year looking much less is the year has not yet ended and Abbott usually claims a lump sum of money in Total Staffing budget payroll costs for the total year, last year alone £161,434.00 went on paying the staff of the MP.

  • 1 Apr 2010 — 31 Mar 2011 Total claimed: £104,443.62 *

This leads me onto my next writing point, some of the bazar claims such as coffee under “Office Costs”, I have worked in an office and I had to pay for my own coffee from a machine or at the shop and bring it in to make, but it looks like if you are an MP or working for an MP the public with front the cost of a coffee bill, and oh why not a new coffee machine as well.

On the 22/05/2018 Ms Abbott claimed under “Office Costs” Coffee. What was the bill you might be thinking, surely not more than £6-10 for a jar of coffee to do the office? I’m afraid to say the taxpayer has fronted the cost for £121.22 worth of coffee, did she get 5 rounds for the full office at Starbucks or something? That’s ridiculous.
