ICUs are empty of Covid patients
The number of patients being admitted to intensive care units for Covid in England, Wales and Northern Ireland fell to as little as two in one day last month, according to data from the Care National Audit and Research Centre.
On February 3 there were 478 patients in mechanically ventilated beds; this figure was above 4,000 in January last year.
This comes as it was reported on Saturday that Britain's Omicron Covid wave continued to recede as statistics showed cases and deaths both falling for the third day in a row.
