Boat migrant milestone: More than 750 cross in small boats in ONE DAY
The Channel migrant crisis sank to a new low on Tuesday with a record number making the illegal crossing from France.
At least 750 small boat migrants arrived in UK waters yesterday (18th June).
That number surpasses the previous one-day record of 711 small boat migrants who arrived on May 1.
It takes the total number of migrants who have crossed this year to almost 12,200.
The total number of people who have crossed since the Prime Minister made his pledge to stop the crossings has now reached almost 41,500.
A known three small boats arrived in UK waters in the early hours on Monday, and more than 130 people were taken to the Border Force processing centre in Dover harbour.
They were the first small boat arrivals since last Thursday, after several days of poor weather conditions in the Channel prevented crossings.
