This IS crazy

We couldn't say it any better than diocese of Shrewsbury - you can have an abortion but not a baptism, buy a car, but not a votive candle, go to supermarket, but not a sanctuary, get divorce, but not married and break the law, but not receive absolution.

As you will no doubt be aware, from the 1st June outdoor markets and car showrooms can open, with non-essential shops following suit just two weeks later on 15th June.

We can now go shopping for a new summer dress, buy a car, play a round of golf, pop into the garden centre for something to spruce up the garden area or to the DIY store to give our homes a refresh, but churches remain shut, even for acts of private prayer.

Of course it is right to protect the vulnerable, but the government appears to be willfully blind to the spiritual needs of so many who have been prevented from fully living their faith for almost 10 long weeks.

If shoppers and retailers can be trusted to keep one another safe, then why not Christians who, after all, have love of our Neighbour, as one of our key tenets.
