Tory Clarke prepared to lead anti-No Deal government

Anti-Brexit Tory MP Ken Clarke has said that he would lead a government with labour and libs dems anti-brexiteers in order a No Deal Brexit.

Liberal Democrat Leader Jo Swinson has mentioned both Clarke and Labour’s Harriet Harman as potential leaders of a anti-Brexit government.

Swinson has apparently been in touch with both as well, saying: “They put public duty first and they don’t want to see a No Deal Brexit.

“If the House of Commons asks them to lead an emergency government to get our country out of this Brexit mess and to stop us driving off that cliff to a no deal, then yes, they are prepared to do that.”

Ken Clarke himself has described events as being a “long way down the the track” but said that “if a whole series of events” took place he could lead a Brexit-blocking government after a vote of no confidence in Boris Johnson.

And he has also said explicitly: “If they ask me to lead, yes I would lead it.

“If it was the only way in which the plain majority in the House of Commons that is opposed to a No Deal exit could find a way forward, I wouldn’t object to it.”

The knives are out, not just for Boris, but for the 17 Million that voted and gave this government the largest mandate in the history of our country to break the chains that bind us to the EU superstate.
