Tory MP CHARGED with sexual assault

Politicians are a privileged elite in modern England. Case and point: Charlie Elphicke MP. Ask yourself: why have I not heard about this case?

Charlie Elphicke, the Conservative MP for Dover has been charged with three counts of sexual assault against two different women, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed.

The Tory MP will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 6th, 2019.
The Crown Prosecution Service said they had brought the changes today after reviewing a file of evidence from the Metropolitan police.
The charges are of one count of sexual assault against one woman in 2007 and two counts of sexual assault against a second woman in 2016.
Mr Elphicke was suspended from the Conservative Party in 2017 when the allegations of sexual assault first came to light, He had the whip restored in December last year, prior to a confidence vote in Theresa May.
The MP who is the married father of two children has always staunchly denied the accusations against him.
A CPS spokesperson said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has today charged Charles Elphicke, MP for Dover, with three charges of sexual assault against two women.

“The CPS made the decision to charge Mr Elphicke after reviewing a file of evidence from the Metropolitan police.

“The CPS reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Elphicke are now active and that he has a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
Mr Elphicke, of course, is innocent until proven guility, but you would think, considering his high profile, that you would've seen at least one newspaper or one news broadcaster reporting on the charges brought against him!
